I must start with the following disclaimer: Adam Henze is a friend of mine, albeit a new friend. Having said that, I don't plan on being nice in this review because of that. :) Here goes. I would say this book is a view into the ways a young man copes with the big world he finds himself in. For that reason, I don't expect future works by Adam to be the same. That is why this book is so fun to read. It's a raw version of his future self. The subject matter jumps from a drug addict in therapy to a cat caught in a web to suicide to reincarnation. The first person in this poetry may be Adam himself or a someone he constructed. You never know with poets. But, whoever "he" is, he admits "I'm still seeking my feet for answers..." He asks us "How can I make your experience more divine?" He assures his readers "one day I swear we'll wake from this nightmare and we'll be together." And reassures us "I'm gonna beat suicide/like a Sunday morning boner." What's not to love about that? You won't regret reading this book.Product details

This is really a great book. I'd seen a few of Henze's poems performed by him on Youtube, but I was glad to be able to read so many of his poems that I had never seen before. What's great about this book is that Henze's voice speaks even to people who don't normally read poetry, but it doesn't condescend to its audience. The poems are smart and moving. A great book of poetry.
